1994

Very nearly the year of no gigs! Looking back on that year I was wondering why the lack of gigs. I checked setlist.fm which is a very good site if you want to check out what cities you have seen your favourite band play and what was on the setlist www.setlist.fm is your destination. I checked listings for that entire year for both Belfast and Dublin. Some gigs I missed. Can’t figure out to this day why.

However one gig I didn’t go to was Sunstroke’94 at Dalymount Park which was headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (making up for pulling out the year before). Work got in the way of that one 😦

So the one gig I got to that year was to see Slayer at the Ulster Hall on 7/11/94 with support from Machine Head who were breaking through with their debut Burn My Eyes. They are coming back to Belfast this autumn as part of a 25th anniversary show to play the album in full. Got a ticket for that one.

By this stage I will have seen 3 of the big 4 of trash metal from the US – Metallica, Megadeth and now Slayer.  It would be a good few more years before I would complete the set by seeing Anthrax.
