We all remember the first time. But have you ever thought about your first gig? It certainly gets the debate going.

My first ever gig was on 26 September 1989 when I went to see Simple Minds at the King’s Hall in Belfast, with support from fellow Glaswegians, Gun.

I got the tickets as a leaving present from my job at Allied Irish Bank (now First Trust) and I went along with my cousin John for this.

It was the most amazing experience and I loved every minute of it. Even bought my first concert t shirt (first of many!) at this one.

Simple Minds were promoting their new album Street Fighting Years and the gig saw the band play their big hit at the time, Belfast Child which was a special moment to be hearing it in your own city.

My first ever gig and many more to come.
